  • Biography:

    Professor Manef Abderrabba is currently the Head of the molecular materials and applications laboratory at the I.P.E.S.T La Marsa (University of Carthage TUNISIA). He has been a Professor in higher education since 1988 and a full Professor since 1995.

    Professor Manef ABDERRABBA received a PHD degree in physical chemistry in 1987 and a Doctorate diploma in Chemical Engineering in 1984, both with high honours from the University of Bordeau (FRANCE). He holds a master degree in Business and Management from the French IAE “Institut d’Administration des Entreprises” (Bordeau, year 1983) and an Engineering degree from the Graduate School of Chemistry and Physics (Institute of Technology, Bordeau, year 1982). From 1977 to 1979, he has been following classes to prepare for the entrance examinations to the French “Grandes Ecoles”.

    Professor Manef ABDERRABBA held several important positions in TUNISIA. From 2008 to 2012, he has been the General Director of the Technological studies at the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Research. In 2011, he was the President of the ministerial Commission of Markets. He also occupied the functions of General Director of Technopark Borj Cedria (May 2005-April 2008), General Director of “Ecole polytechnique de Tunisie” (March 2004- April 2005), Director of the I.P.E.I.T ? Institut Préparatoire aux Etudes d’Ingénieur de Tunis ? (2001-2004), Director of studies and internships at I.P.E.S.T. (1998 - 2001) and the preparatory studies for aggregation Department’s Head at I.P.E.S.T. (April 1995- January 1998).

    In 2015, Professor Manef ABDERRABBA was nominated for the position of Minister of Education in the government of First Minister Hbib Essid. In 2002, he received the Tunisian National Order of Merit in Science and Education and in 2001, he was decorated by the French Prime Minister after he was nominated by the French Minster of Education for the Knight Grade of the french order of chivalry “Ordre des Palmes Académiques”.

    Professor Manef ABDERRABBA contributed greatly in the advancement of the scientific research and has a great academic footprint. He is the Author of more than 110 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals. His h-INDEX reached 15 in the Scopus database. He is also the Author and co-author of 4 industrial patents. An international patent was submitted in June 2012 and accepted in EUROPE, USA, CHINA, INDIA and ALGERIA. He has been the Director of the physical-chemistry research unit since March 1995 and the Head of several research collaboration projects in France such as CMCU and CNRS-DGRST. The latest project which started in 2008 and lasted for 4 years was in collaboration with The French University Paris VI and aimed to find a way to solve pollution problems using the titanium dioxide. He is the reviewer for several research journals such as The Journal of chromatography and the coordinator of several tempus projects. He was the President of the scientific committee of CHITEL (Congress of Theoretical Chemists of Latin Expression) in 2006 and worked as a member of the National committee of the Tunisian Chemical Society from 2000 to 2004. Today, he is also the supervisor and co-supervisor of several PhD and master students, a reporter for several national and international PhD committees, the chairman of several international and scientific congresses, an associate researcher in several laboratories abroad such as the University of Tsukuba in Japan (since 2005) and an Invited Professor in several European Universities.
