Biography:

Kai Way Li received his Ph.D. on industrial engineering from Texas Tech University in 1991 in Lubbock, Texas, USA. He had served as a faculty member in industrial management (joint appointment withthe transportation management department during 1995-1997) with ChungHua University in Taiwan from 1991 to 2004. During this period, he had received research grants from government agencies and had provided scientific advisory service to the National Science Council in Taiwan as a reviewer and for the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health as both a reviewer and a consultant on workplace safety. The findings of his research projects have been published in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and technical reports. Dr. Li had been four times as one of the winners of the Excellent Paper Award in ergonomics issued by the National Science Council.

Dr. Li was appointed as a joint visiting scholar with both the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety (MA, USA) and Department of Environmental Health, Harvard University (Boston) during the summer in 2002. He had been a research scientist with the Liberty Mutual Research Institute during 2004 to 2007. Dr. Li is, now, a professor with the Department of Industrial Management, Chung Hua University, Hsin-Chu, Taiwan. Dr. Li has broad research interests in ergonomics and is experienced in conducting research in ergonomics and safety & health management on workplaces. He has been invited as reviewer for manuscripts submitted to premier ergonomic journals such as Ergonomics, Applied Ergonomics, International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, and Safety Science.

Dr. Li is experienced in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in industrial engineering courses. As one of the winners of the Outstanding Teaching Award in Chung-Hua University (2002, 2009) and Outstanding Undergraduate Advisor (2009). He had advised over thirty undergraduate students on their senior projects. He was also the advisor for more than twenty master and three doctoral theses. Dr. Li is a member of Ergonomics Society in Taiwan, Institute of the Chinese Institute for Industrial Engineers, International Society for Occupational Ergonomics & Safety, and Slip, Trip & Fall Subcommittee of International Ergonomics Association.
