标题: Microstructure and Interface Structure in Different Composite Materials
摘要:
The structure and interface between secondaryphases and the matrix plays an important role in the property control and performance enhancement of composite structures for different applications. Recent research and technology development has offered enhanced capacity in materials characterisation and modelling as well as new opportunities and freedomin material design. This talk presentscollaborative research works on materials with composite structures at different length scales, including particle aggregates structures, nano-filler reinforced systems and coatings. The structures, properties and application specific performances is detailed withcombined use of experimental, modelling and analysis. Recent work on smart materials (e.g. auxetic materials) is also presented and discussed.
简介:
James Ren is a Professor of Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. He graduated from Yangshan University (China) in 1991 with a BEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering; he obtained his MSc in 1996 and PhD degree in 2000 on Advanced Manufacturing and Design from the University of Hull (UK). He joined the School of Engineering, Liverpool John Moores University as a Lecturer in Materials Engineering in 2003 from the University of Exeter (UK) where he worked as an EPSRC PosdtDoc and ICI Strategic Research Fellow. In 2007 he was promoted to Reader in Materials Engineering and became a Professor of Engineering in 2010. His research interests and activities are in materials characterisation, new materials development/processing, computational modelling and design optimisation. His research has received grants/Funding from UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), EU (Horizon 2020), UK National Health Service (NHS), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Royal Society, Royal Academy of Engineering, Overseas Governments and industries. He has authored and co-authored over 85 SCI journal papers and numerous conference presentations/invited speeches. He is an editorial board member of SCI journal “Materials & Design” (IF3.99) and reviewer for several leading engineering journals. He has been involved in over 25 conferences as a member of the technical or steering committee or sessional chair. Prof. Ren supervised/supervising over 16UK PhD students as the director of studies, 5 international PhDs as external supervisor and several postdoctoral researchers and knowledge transfer associates since in the past 10 years. His work involves a broad collaboration (joint publication or projects, etc.) with universities in the UK, EU, China and USA, these collaborations have produced numerous joint publications in journals such as Scientific Reports, Acta Mat., etc. He has been conducting collaborative research with/for several leading engineering companies in materials, aerospace, civil and energy sectors. He is the external PhD examiner and subject panel member for several leading universities in the UK and Asia. Prof. Ren is also an active academic in engineering education with past projects from the UK materials education centre and the Royal Academy of Engineering.
