Biography: 

Arindam Ghosh obtained his Ph.D. from University of Calgary, Canada in 1983. He joined Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur in 1985 as an Assistant Professor and became a Professor in 1991. In May 2006he moved to Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia to take up the position of Research Capacity Building Professor in Power Engineering. He was with QUT till November 2013. Since December 2013, he isa Research Academic Professor at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. 

The main area of research of Professor Ghosh is on the application of power electronics and its control in power transmission and distribution systems. He has expertise in the areas of HVDC and FACTS, Custom Power Devices, Distributed Generation integration in electric grid, Microgrid and Smart Grid. He has written 2 books, 1 IEEE report, 7 book chapters, over 150 journal papers and over 250 peer reviewed conference papers. He has supervised around 80 research students at Masters and Doctoral levels. 

He is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering, an IEEE PES Distinguished Lecturer and has been a Fulbright Scholar.
