|Title: Advanced Fuel Cell Technology for Energy and Environment Futures|
Fuel cells are regarded as being part of the future solution to the energy and environmental crisis, providing clean energy supply with low or no emissions. The reversed fuel cell process (electrolysis) has also been widely developed for clean fuel production. This presentation will report the recent progress on the advanced fuel cell technology for energy and environment futures, underpinned by a Global Innovation Initiative (GII) project supported by the UK and US governments titled “Emission-to-Liquid-Fuel Conversion: Hybrid-Catalyst Boosted CO2 Hydrogenation Microreactor System”. The global collaborative efforts in developing cost-effective and high efficient low carbon technologies integrated with hydrogen and fuel cells will be discussed in the talk.
Dr. Jin Xuan obtained his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Universityof Hong Kong in 2012. He was a Faculty member in East China University of Science and Technology and a visiting researcher in The University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong during 2012-2014. In 2014, he moved his academic career to U.K., takinghis current position in Heriot-Watt University as Assistant Professor.
Dr. Xuan’s research interests include CO2 utilization, fuel cells, renewableenergy, micro-reactors and process intensification. He has published 1 book, 3 book chapters, 100+ journal and conference papers, including 50+ peer-reviewed SCI journal papers (a number of which in the list of ‘Top 25 Hottest Articles’ and ‘Most Accessed Articles‘),filed 10+ patents, and delivered 6 invited/keynote speeches in conference. He is Specialty Associate Editor of Frontiers in Environmental Science, Guest Editor of Micro and Nanosystems, and reviewer for a number of energy journals.
