简介： Kassim obtained a PhD in Statistical Data Mining from the School of Mathematics of the University of Leeds (2000-2004). He also holds an MSc degree in Statistics from the faculty of Informatics of the former Karl Marx Institute in Sofia; an MSc degree in Finance from the Strathclyde Graduate Business School and an MSc Database Professional from SHU. He has been a full-time member of staff of the Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences and the Communication and Computing Research Institute at Sheffield Hallam University since 2004. Besides teaching, he is involved in research work with a number of interdisciplinary research consortia focusing, mainly, on tackling global challenges and ensuring sustainability through knowledge discovery from multi-faceted data (KDMD). He particularly focuses on enhancement of data analytics methods and tools; articulate liaison with policy makers, grooming of young scientists and researchers and the promotion of data sharing and open-access. He has secured, managed and delivered a number of high profile research and consulting projects across all continents. He has published extensively in refereed journals and presented papers at numerous international conferences on topics related to data mining applications for global sustainability.
