Abstract:
Pakistan's Gwadar port, has been taken by China, is the intersection of several important sea routes and is the joint port and flagship project of the China-Pakistan economic corridor and the 21st century maritime silk road, which is located in the throat of the Persian Gulf that has very important strategic position. The opening and development of Gwadar port is of great strategic significance. Gwadar is still a small fishing village just like Shenzhen in China 40 years ago. Compared with the current international hub port of Shenzhen, how to realize the great-leap-forward development of Gwadar port that benefits the two countries and regional development is the question raised in this paper? From the perspective of global supply chain management, this paper firstly reviews the dynamic of the relationship between the global supply chain management and port development at home and abroad, and introduces the development history and reference of Shenzhen port. On this basis, analyze the development environment and current situation of Gwadar port. From a perspective of global supply chain management, this paper discusses the opportunity of Gwadar port to get leap-forward development, including location geopolitics, freight logistics demand market analysis, complementary relationship of economy and trade, industrial development and policy, and investment and financing policies. From a perspective of the global supply chain management, this paper discusses the challenges of Gwadar to get leapfrog development, including the Gwadar port hinterland economy, the accessibility of traffic and distribution conditions, geographical climate and surrounding security, enterprise cluster and talent demand, etc. Finally, from a perspective of the global supply chain management, this paper discusses the Gwadar leapfrog development countermeasures. Expect to provide valuable scientific decision basis for the successful implementation of The Belt and Road Initiative and the flagship construction project of the China-Pakistan economic corridor.
