Biography: 

Dr. Cathy Qi is an Associate Professor in Special Education at the University of New Mexico. She received her doctorate in Early Childhood Special Education from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Qi has presented numerous papers on topics related to evidence-based practices for individuals with autism spectrum disorders at the national and international conferences. She also has published many papers on issues related to language and behavior assessments for children from low-income families and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. In 2009, Dr. Qi was recognized as Diversity Champion from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for advancing multicultural issues in communication sciences and disorders. For the past 15 years, she has been principal investigator of three federally funded research projects. 

Dr. Qi currently serves on the Editorial Board of Young Exceptional Children and is Editor-in-chief of the Creative Education Open Access Journal. She also has been an active reviewer for many peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Early Intervention; Topics in Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Research Quarterly; Early Childhood Education Research; Journal of Speech, Language, Hearing in Research; and Pediatrics.
