Biography: 
Aijaz Hussain Soomro,was born on June 02, 1968in Mullakatiar a small village of Sindh located on the left bank of river Indus. He received his early education in Tandojam and Hyderabad. He obtained the DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree in 1993, M.Sc. degree in Dairy Technology in 1996 from Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam. He joined as Veterinary Officer in the Livestock and Fisheries Department, Government of Sindh on June 19, 1994. 
He has the credit to have served as Research Officer in Microbiology section of Central Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Sindh, Tandojam. In 1994, he worked with the FAO consultant under Emergency Assistance for Rinderpest control when an outbreak emerged in Gilgit and Baltistan adjacent to Pak-China border.
Then on December 16, 1996 he joined as Lecturer in the Department of Dairy Technology, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam. He got GRE based PhD fellowship from UGC/HEC under its first 300 indigenous PhD scholarship scheme in 2001and completed PhD in Food Technology from University of Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi in 2006 and have the honor to be the first PhD in Food Technology from University of Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi. He worked on the characterization of wild strains of Lactic acid bacteria.After completion of his PhD he was appointed as Assistant Professor in February 2007.
Dr. Soomro received the award for postdoctoral fellowship from HEC in 2009 that was based on invitation from the University of Queensland, Australia. He conducted research on the role of spx genes in the stress resistance in the cheese fermentation bacterium Lactococcus lactis.
Dr. Soomro received the Endeavour research fellowship award in 2014and was hosted by the University of Queensland, Australia. He conducted research on the characterization of spontaneous heat resistant mutants ofLactococcus lactis.
Dr. Soomro was appointed as Associate Professor in the Institute of Food Sciences and Technology, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam in 2010. 
Dr. Soomro co-authored a book chapter entitled “Molecular mechanisms of stress resistance in Lactococcus lactis” in Current Research, Technology and Education Topics in Applied Microbiology and Microbial Biotechnologyand has more than 60 publications tohis credit published in international and national journals of repute (26 in HEC recognized Journals, 24 in International Journals with impact factor of 24.631 and 12 in Local National Journals).
Dr. Soomro is HEC approved supervisor and he supervised and co-supervised more than 80 students in M.Sc and M.Phil degree programs in the Institute of Food Sciences and Technology and Department of Animal Products Technology.
Recently, Dr. Soomro has organized 3rdInternational Conference on Agriculture, Food and Animal Sciences ICAFAS 2017 as organizing secretary and International Symposium on Camel Management and Reproduction as organizing committee member.
Dr. Soomro has distinguished career in research and teaching, with broad experience in Dairy Technology, Meat Technology and Food safety and Microbiology. 
Dr. Soomro attended various conferences, seminars and workshops and is a member of many professional societies and statutory bodies and recently elected as member Executive Council, SUN Academia and Research Network, Pakistan.
At present he is working as Professor and Director of the Institute of Food Sciences and Technology, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam with more than 22 years of Teaching and Research experience.
