Title: Perception, Awareness and Cognitive Neuroscience Conference
Biography:
Main Research Directions:
Neural circuits organise and transform sensory signals from the external physical world into
signals in the brain. The biophysical mechanisms, computational rules and algorithms associated
with single neurons and neural circuits are big mysteries that are unsolved. Our research goals
include, but are not limited to the following topics.
1. Information representation (encoding and decoding) in neuronal circuitry.
2. Interfaces between the natural environment and adaptation/plasticity of neural structures.
3. The neuronal circuitry and synaptic mechanisms underlying learning and memory.
4. Neural dynamics and computational principles for neural computation and emergence of
cognitive functions
5. Energy efficient brain signaling and the brain’s energy budget
