Biography: 
Dr Anil K Gupta is a leading expert of resilience and disaster management, currently Head of Division of Policy Planning at India’s National Institute of Disaster Management, at New Delhi. He joined NIDM in 2006, is currently Head of Policy Planning Division, Head of Training Cell, and Coordinator of Technical Advisory Committee. He is also Secretary of SURE-SAFE Cluster Academy at New Delhi. He served as Nodal Officer for implementing Central Sector Scheme for DM Capacity building for states – Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh, International cooperation programmes, Preparation of National DM Plan including mitigation, response and capacity plan, National Human Resource Plan for DM and DRR, and NIDM’s Perspective Plan for Strengthening & Expansion, India’s communication to UNCCD (MoEF). His contribution includes - process framework for operationalizing Sendai Framework along Paris Agreement & SDGs, guiding state governments in DRR Roadmap, State/District level DM/DRR and developmental planning integrating CCA-DRR, village level plans, damage-loss and needs analysis, training strategies, national drought management manual, national action plan for chemical disasters, heat wave, etc. His current emphasis is on environmental services & health in disaster management, green relief, disaster management for environment and natural resources, climate resilient infrastructure and supply chains, applying EIAs and environmental laws in DRM. He supervised 6 doctoral and several masters research, has more than 130 publications including 20 books, 49 journal papers and 37 chapters. A recipient of Young Scientist Award 1996 of Govt of MP, in 2011 he was offered IDRC Canada’s Thank Tank Initiative Senior Fellowship in the area of policy analysis. Formerly he was Reader & Director (2003-2006), Institute of Environment and Development at Bundelkhand University. He also worked with CSIR-NEERI (Post-doc), State Government, Industry and Consultancy. Recently Dr Gupta is appointed Core Group Member of IUCN Council on Ecosystem Management for South Asia. He collaborated with GIZ Germany, CDKN UK, UNEP Geneva, UNESCO, UNDP, ISET-Colorado, ICIMOD, Potsdam University, Kyoto University, Government Ministries and other Institutes, represented in many international delegations abroad and Member of Governing Body, Research Advisory, Board of Studies of Universities/colleges and Institutes.
