Dr. Emanuele Quaranta Politecnico di Torino, Italy
Biography: Emanuele Quaranta is a post PhD researcher at Politecnico di Torino in Renewable Energy (Hydropower), Hydraulic machines, Fish passages and Computational Fluid Dynamic simulations for solving hydraulic problems. He achieved the PhD title in June 2017, with laude. He has been Visitors Researcher at Southampton University (UK), where he worked for six months. He is an international expert on water wheels for micro hydropower. His scientific approach is both experimental, theoretical and numerical, so that he can afford the problems from different points of view. Meanwhile, Emanuele is scientific consultant for professional engineering offices, companies, industries and irrigation consortia on micro hydropower and hydraulics, where he applies his scientific obtained results. He is also active in innovation, working with/for inventors and patents. Emanuele is very active in scientific divulgation, cooperating with different companies (he is a Prescouter member, USA) and museums, like Museo Energia (Rome, IT); he was a finalist of Famelab Italy, the international festival of scientific divulgation. Emanuele also took part at the project Generazione Italia at Camera dei Deputati, with the role of discussing some design laws on smart cities and environmental risk. He is member of scientific committees for international congresses and scientific reviewer for international scientific journals on Water, Environment and Energy, where he has also published several publications. Emanuele was awarded as the best student at the high school in 2008, best student at Math Olympic games 2007 and 2008, and in 2013 among the best graduated of Polytechnic and University of Turin. In 2014 he successfully passed the test for being a professional engineer, with the highest marks among all the candidates. In 2016 he was acknowledged as among the best reviewers at the international congress NEFES 2016 on Energy Systems. Therefore, during his carrier, Emanuele has been always awarded, showing his continuous interest for his work and diligence. He is member of national and international associations.
