Biography: 
Born on First January Nineteen hundred and fifty six (01.01.1956) at Village Radhanagar, Hooghly, West Bengal Prof. Dr. Ratikanta Ghosh s/o of Late Amulya Charan Ghosh and Late Jayabati Ghosh schooling at Antpur High school (H.S) and BCKV [B.Sc. (Ag.) M.Sc. (Ag.) and Ph.D (Agronomy) passed all degrees in 1st Division and joined at service on 02.05.1980. Retired from normal service on 31.12.2015 and now acting as reemployed Professor at BCKV. Besides teaching, formulated new courses, published 11 Books, 5 Chapter of Books, 18 Booklets and more than 331 scientific articles. Guided 38 PG students [17 Ph.D. and 21 M.Sc.(Ag.)] and 7 more are working. Acted as an expert in selection board, external examiner, Thesis & paper reviewer, question setter in various National Institutions, Government and NGOs. Formed the registered “Crop and Weed Science Society” and publishing ICAR , NASS, CAB accepted “Journal of Crop and Weed” and “Crop and Weed Science News” since 2005. Organized 4 International and 16 National Conferences besides more than 50 farmers’ training programme. Acted as Principal Investigator of 49 projects including Ministry of Agriculure Government of India and West Bengal, Rice Co International, Tata Trust and participated in 20 International (including abroad USA, Australia, South Africa, Turkey, China, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh etc.) and 73 National conferences besides delivering lectures in more than 200 farmer training programme and also participated in Akashbani & Doordarshan. Presently member of more than 25 international and national societies. Research and extension works conducted on Food, oil, nutrient, environment and health security, weed management, system intensification and oilseeds production, GHG emission, bioherbicide, pest losses for productivity increase etc. Honoured by awarding Gold Medal from CWSS, India; Fellows of Weed Science from Indian Society of Weed Science (ISWS), Academy of Plant Science (APS); Association of advancement of Plant Protection (AAPP) and Recognition Award from Indian Society of Weed Science (ISWS), DWR, ICAR and some other international and national organizations including NGOs. Established Invasive weed museum, weed science field laboratory with many scientific instruments.
