Biography: 
Jingzhe Pan is a Professor in Mechanics of Materials, Deputy Head of Department and Head of Mechanics of Materials Research Group at the Department of Engineering, University of Leicester. He received his BSc in Applied Mechanics from Shenyang University of Technology, MSc in Computational Mechanics from Dalian University of Technology and PhD in Mechanics of Composite Materials from Shanghai Jiao-Tong University.From 1991 to 1994, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Engineering Department of Cambridge University, working on creep failure of engineering materials. From 1994 to 2006, he was a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and then Reader at the University of Surrey. In 2006, he joined the University of Leicester to take up a Chair in Mechanics of Materials in the Department of Engineering.Prof Jingzhe Pan leads the Mechanics of Materials Research Groupat Leicester which was established by Frederick Leckie in 1968. It currently has 13 academic staff (including 4 Professors)and over 40 PDRAs and PhD students. His current research interests include modelling degradation and drug release of bioresorbable materials & implants, and design of medical implants & devices.
