标题: High-Performance Polyethylene from Ethylene Polymerization Catalyzed by Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Metal Complexes
摘要:
Metal complexes with various ligands and the introduction of inorganic fillers are two predominant ways in preparing high-performance polyethylene (PE). Firstly, several series of nickel procatalysts used for ethylene (co)polymerization will be presented herein. The bidentate nickel complexes with N-N ligands and O-P ligands afforded highly branched polyethylene and functional ethylene copolymers respectively. Secondly, mesoporous molecular sieves (MMS) were introduced to support the catalyst and provide the place (nanoreactor) for ethylene polymerization. The pore sizes of MMS are suitable for ethylene polymerizations to proceed in an extrusion mode and the as-prepared polyethylene are in situ compounded with MMS particles to form polymer nanocomposites. The introduction of MMS endows the PE with increased molecular weights and molecular weight distribution, elevated strength and modulus, and good processability, etc..

Dr. Guo is a Professor in the School of Chemical Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). He read chemical engineering at Taiyuan University of Technology (TUT) with a Bachelor’s degree (1985-1989) and majored in chemical engineering at TUT with a Master’s degree (1994-1997). Dr. Guo finished his Ph.D. dissertation in Polymer Chemistry and Physics at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS) in 2003. Thereafter, he joined ICCAS as an Assistant Research Professor and was promoted to an Associate Research Professor in 2006. Dr. Guo had a one-year research experience in Prof. Dr. Joachim Werner Heinicke’s laboratory at the University of Greifswald, Germany as a Visiting Professor (2007-2008). After that, he returned to ICCAS before joining UCAS as an Associate Professor (2010) and a Full Professor (2016-). Dr. Guo's principal areas of interest and expertise include functional polymer-based composites, olefin polymerization, carbon dioxide utilization, and catalytic synthesis of biofuels. The main goal of Dr. Guo’s research programs is to develop highly efficient catalytic systems for the synthesis of high-performance materials. His recent research projects focus on the preparation of novel thermoelectric composites and high performance polyolefins. Prof. Guo is a member of American Chemical Society, Chinese Chemical Society, Chinese Chemical Engineering Society, and Chinese Materials Research Society. Dr. Guo is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of New Industrialization (2016-), Lead Guest Editor (Special Issue) of International Journal of Polymer Science (2014-2015), Member of EB of International Scholarly Research Notices (2011-), Member of EB of Soft Nanoscience Letters (2011-), and Member of EAB of the Open Macromolecules Journal (2009-2014).
