Title: Security Challenges in Smart City Projects: Significant Cyber Attacks and Cyber Attack handling Methods
Abstract:
Moving towards automation improves the quality of life of people. Cyber Physical Systems are integral part of Smart City Projects. These systems work on the principle of command and control through remote mechanisms with the Communication in Cyber Space. Cyber Security is the latest and perhaps the most complicated challenge in the Cyber Space. Cyber Security aims at preventing and identifying misuse and malfunction of data, system and its resources and network and its resources. Many sensors and actuators communicate through wireless network and exchange data through the network. In a relatively recent survey, more than 90 percent of the respondent corporations and government agencies reported computer security breaches at one time or the other. Cyber Space is a common place for disgruntled employees and hackers to commit many cyber-attacks. The attackers are very much recognizable with the latest advancements to handle security. Therefore intelligent control systems and defense mechanism are on the rise to handle the present day attacks. The various attacks on wireless networks, Cyber Physical System, Satellite Communication System, Smart phones and possible threats and security breaches in Smart City Projects are discussed. The cyber attack classification under different perceptions and the attack handling mechanisms, malware threat handling methods are discussed. Some significant experiments, results and the observations are also presented .
