| Biography:
Dr. Hemant Borkar is working as Assistant Professor at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering department. He holds a PhD degree in Materials Engineering from McGill University, Canada. His broader research interests include materials and manufacturing, process-structure-property relationships in metals and lightweight metals for transport applications. He is specialized in Al and Mg alloys, casting, deformation processing, electron back scattered diffraction, crystallographic texture and microstructural characterization. Dr.Borkar has experience of teaching modules for industry professionals and working on industrial relevant research projects. His postdoctoral work focused on the study of microstructure, mechanical properties and deformation behavior of Al-Si based alloys. The deformation studies were carried out by in-situ EBSD during tensile testing. He has worked on several projects in the area of high performance cast Al components. His PhD work focused on Texture and microstructure studies on extruded Mg-Mn-Sr alloys.
