Dr. Mrinal Pal received his Bachelors of Science and Master Degree in Physics from University of Calcutta. He carried out his Ph.D. work at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science during 1992-1997 and got the Degree in 1997 from Jadavpur University under the supervision of Prof. Dipankar Chakravorty. He appointed as a faculty member (Lecturer) at The University of Burdwan in 2002 and promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2006. He moved to CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur in 2010 as a Principal Scientist. Currently, he is Principal Scientist at CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata.
The research work of Dr. Pal primarily aims at synthesizing Nanostructured materials and understanding their structure-property correlation for various applications. He has worked on various nanosystems including Ferrites, Spintronics and Multiferroic materials. His current research on diabetes monitoring sensor materials and multiferroics has emerged as promising materials for building new devices to tackle key challenges in medical science and energy supply issues.
Dr. Pal has postdoctoral research experience for over four years in countries like Italy, Japan, Russia and India. He has received prestigious awards including STA fellowship of Govt. of Japan and MRSI Medal-2016, India. Dr. Pal has served as scientific evaluator Govt. scientific agencies and member of panel of experts to various Ph.D. committees and P.G. Board of studies. He has been invited to deliver keynote/ invited talks and to chair technical sessions in many national and international conferences. Dr. Pal is actively involved in national and international collaboration in different area of his interest. He has guided several students for their Ph.D. degree. He has published around 90 papers in SCI journal of international repute.
