Title: Multi-target analysis of oxidative stress biomarkers in flavonoids treated human red blood cells
Abstract:
The accumulation of oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) has an impact on critical aspects of aging process and contributes physiological function impairment, increased incidence of disease, and reduction in life span.ROS molecules have the potential to damage a number of vital biomolecules. At the cellular level, ROS leads to DNA double strand breaks and telomere shortening, which are both important cell senescence triggers. Dietary flavonoids are present in different fruits and vegetables with potential health benefits and interfere with reactive oxygen species (ROS) metabolism. The objective of this study was multi-target analysis of oxidativestress biomarkers in flavonoids treated red blood cells during human aging. We believe that findings of flavonoid treated red blood cells during human aging will help in the fast screening of new chemical molecules which may help against oxidative stress, thereby has tremendous scope in medical diagnostics and therapeutics.
