Biography
Prof. Tao Chu Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sicences, China
Biography: Tao Chu received the B.S. degree in electronics and information engineering from Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, in 1991. He received the M. Eng. degree in electronics and information science and the Dr. Eng. degree in information and production science from Kyoto Institute of Technology, Kyoto, Japan, in 1999 and 2002, respectively. From 1991 to 1995, he worked as a Research Associate at the East-China Microelectronic Research Institute, Hefei, China. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellow at the Kyoto Institute of Technology, Kyoto. From 2003 to 2009, he was a Researcher of the Optoelectronic Industry and Technology Development Association (OITDA) and worked at NEC Laboratories and Tokyo University, Japan. From 2006 to 2011, he worked in NEC Central Research Laboratories, Tsukuba, Japan, first as an Assistant Manager and then as a Principal Researcher. From 2009 to 2011, he also worked in National Institute of Advanced Industry Science and Technology (AIST), Tsukuba, Japan, first as a Senior Research Scientist and then as a Senior Manager. In 2011, he was selected as a 1000 Talents Program National distinguished Professor and joined the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a full professor and a Group Leader. His current research interests include optical communication devices and electro-photonic integration technologies based on silicon photonics.
