Biography: 
Dr. Rifat Hayat completed PhD during 2005 by availing HEC-Pakistan Indigenous Scholarship for PhD and 1st ever among HEC-Pakistan awardees who successfully completed PhD from this program. Dr Hayat started his professional career as Research Scientist from a Research Project funded by Australian Centre for International agriculture since 1999. He has experienced and involved with farmers as Farm Officer at Army Stud Farm ProbynAbad (ASF-P), Punjab, Pakistan. Latter on he joined Ministry of Environment, Islamabad-Pakistan as Project Planning Officer. Since 2007, Dr Hayat joined PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi Punjab, Pakistan as faculty member in the department of soil science. Currently he is Associate professor and his research mainly focused on bacterial systematics, soil metagenomics and metatranscriptomics along with waste management for producing large scale compost and biochar for agricultural use. Dr Hayat has successfully completed two post-doctoral studies from Institute of Molecular and Cellular Bioscience, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan and from Soil Microbial Ecology; Rothamsted Research, UK. He was awarded Rothamsted International Fellowships (UK) during 2013. Dr Hayat published more than fifty research papers in journals of international repute and author of three book chapters contributing books published in Germany and UK. He is author of one laboratory manual and two books published from Germany. Dr Hayat successfully completed four research projects funded by PMAS-AAUR, Pakistan Science Foundation and Higher education Commission of Pakistan. He is a Pioneer Project Director (Principal) of a project Establishment of Sub-Campus of PMAS-AAUR at Attock, Pakistan. More than fifteen MS and five PhD students completed their degrees under the supervision of Dr. Hayat. Dr Hayat served as Editor University Student’s Magazine “Naveed-e-Baran, Sub-Editor of PMAS-AAUR journal “Journal of Agriculture and Biological Sciences and Member of Executive Council of Soil Science Society of Pakistan. He is professionally involved in many national and international societies including Soil Science Society of Pakistan, Soil Science Society of America, Bergey’s International Society for Microbial Systematic and British Biochar Foundation, UK.
