Title: Implementation of zone management and DMA for water distribution networks in Shanghai
Abstract:
In 2015, “Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan” was released by the State Council, also known as “Water Ten Plan”, which set out the outline and long-term goal for water loss control. Since then, the implementation of zone management has been regarded as a key solution for reducing water losses and non-revenue water in distribution networks. Zone management is the mainstream management of water distribution networks. It is necessary to put this concept throughout the whole process including network planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation. Water supply branch office is in cooperation with National Engineering Research Center of Urban Water Resources (NERC), working on technical application researches and engineering demonstration projects, in order to promote leakage control management in the demonstration areas with innovative technologies and its subsequent application to other areas in Shanghai.
