Biography:
Zhen Xie is a Professor in Bioinformatics Division, Center for Systems and Synthetic Biology, Tsinghua National Lab for Information Science and Technology at Tsinghua University. He has been serving as Assistant Editor-in-Chief for Quantitative Biology journal since 2012. He holds his PH.D in Biology from University of Nevada Las Vegas. Before joining Tsinghua University, he did his postdoctoral training at FAS Center for Systems Biology in Harvard University from Oct. 2006 to Jun. 2010, and Department of Biological Engineering in Massachusetts Institute of Technology from Jul. 2010 to Dec. 2011. Dr. Xie received Junior “1000 Plan” Program Award in 2011. His research goal is to construct synthetic molecular systems to study complex biological phenomena, and to engineer genetic circuits for manipulation of cells, especially mammalian cells in a non-destructive way. Specifically, He is interested to link molecular information processing with cellular decision making and apply this technology platform to addressing key challenges in biomedical and biotechnology applications.
