Biography:

Dr. Jianguo Guan, Chief Professor of Nanocomposite Technology and Functional Materials, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing (SKLARMSP), Wuhan University of Technology (WUT).

He studied polymer materials science and engineering in Xi’an Jiaotong University and received BS in 1990. He received his PhD degree (Electronic Materials and Devices) in 1995 from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. From 2000 to 2001, he worked as a Research Fellow in Department of Mechanical and Products Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. From 2008 to 2009, he worked as a senior visiting scholar in Department of Biomedical Engineering, Washington University in St Louis, USA. He joined SKLARMSP, WUT in 1995 and became a full professor in 1998. Since then he has been leading the Division of Functional Nanostructures and Electromagnetic Functional Composite Materials in SKLARMSP. He has authored and co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed journal publications, and 24 patents. He has been awarded several important Science and Technology Awards from government because of his academic achievements, such as a 1st Prize of Technology Invention Award of Hubei Province (2010), a Medal of Outstanding Contributor to national high-technological armed equipment (2007), and a 2nd Prize of Natural Science Award of Hubei Province (2004) etc..
His current research interest focuses on the design, preparation and application of hetero-nanostructures and electromagnetic functional composite materials, as well as hydrogen production from water splitting by solar energy.
