Jukka P. Matinlinna

Dr. Matinlinna’s , his scientific and educational interests include contemporary dental biomaterials in prosthetic dentistry and implant dentistry, silane chemistry, adhesion promotion, saliva chemistry, dentin bonding, porcelain and resin bonding to zirconia, other ceramic materials, Ti, experimental primers and resins, E-glass fibre reinforced restorations, surface modifications, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), etc. Dr. Matinlinna has published since 2004 about 220 publications (incl. 80 conference abstracts). He is currently supervising 12 PhD students and 5 MSc students. Currently, he is a BDS undergraduate program director facilitating PBL (problem based learning) Modules and PBL practical lab sessions on biomechanical properties of dental biomaterials, their bond strength and clinically important properties. Dr. Matinlinna is also a postgraduate program director for a new MSc(Dental Materials Science) program. He also acts as the Deputy Director of Centralized Research Laboratory. Dr. Matinlinna is the Associate Editor of “Journal of Investigative and Clinical Dentistry, and an editorial board member in 8 journals, e.g. “Clinical Oral Implants Research”, “Silicon”, “Dental Materials”, “Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology” and “Open Dentistry Journal”. He is a member of the Academy of Dental Materials (ADM), the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the Finnish Dental Society (FDS) Apollonia, and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

He is today Visiting Professor at King Saud University, College of Applied Medical Sciences, Riyadh, Saudi-Arabia, and Visiting Professor at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Faculty of Dentistry, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Dr Matinlinna has acted several times as external examiner in BDS programs in Malaysia.
