  • Title: Chiral magnon polaritons for microwave biosensing
  • Abstract:
    Chirality is of a fundamental interest in biology and chemistry. In optics, plasmon-polariton spectroscopy is effectively applicable for analyses of large biomolecules with chiral properties. While the plasmon-polariton effects is a well-developed research area in optics, in microwaves the situation is quite not the same. We show possibility for a chirality discrimination analysis based on microwave chiral magnon polaritons. Newly developed capabilities in microwave sensing provide a potential for unprecedented measurements of chemical and biological objects. The sensors are addressed to microwave biomedical diagnostics and pathogen detection and also to deepening our understanding of microwave-biosystem interactions.
  • Biography:
    Dr. Eugene O. Kamenetskii received Diploma of Engineer in electrical engineering and the PhD degree in physics and mathematics from the Electrical Engineering Institute,St. Petersburg,Russia, in 1969 and 1986, respectively. He is presently with Ben Gurion University of Negev, Israel as a Head of Microwave Magnetic Laboratory. He is an author (co-author) of 150 journal papers and conference presentations. His special fields of scientific interests are magnetic waves and oscillations, spectral theory of artificial atomic structures, metamaterials for microwave and optics applications, microwave microscopy, and microwave biosensing.
