  • Title: Thermoelectric properties of a molecular wire
  • Abstract: The thermoelectric properties of biphenyl molecule coupled to source and drain electrodes are thoroughly investigated within a tight-binding framework based on Green’s function formalism. We calculate the thermopower (or the Seebeck coefficient) and the dimensionless figure of merit as functions of twisting angle between two phenyl rings, molecule-to-electrode coupling, temperature, and interface geometry. We find a large variation of the Seebeck coefficient as well as figure of merit and our results persist over a wide range of physical parameters which demands possible experimental verification of our analysis.
