Dr. (Mrs.) K. Pushkala was born on 30 November 1957 in India, obtained M.Phil. and Ph.D degrees from University of Madras in 1980 and 1995 respectively. She joined as Assistant Professor in Zoology, at Emerald Height¡¯s College, Ootacamund, India (1981-1985), joined as Reader in Zoology (1986-2009) and promoted as Associate Professor (2009-2014) in S.D.N.B. Vaishnav College for Women, Chromepet, Chennai, India. Now she is Director (Evening stream) in the same institution. She perused her post doctoral research in prestigious research laboratories such as Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad and Madras medical college, Chennai. India. She has many distinctions, mentioning a few; Certificate of appreciation for academic work during under graduation issued by Holy Cross College, Nagercoil, and represented University of Madras in the National Integration Camp held at Mahathma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala ¨C during 1989 and won ¡°Best University award¡±. She was awarded II Best Oral Presentation Award in Life Science in XXVIII National conference of the EMSI 19th ¨C21th April 2006 Trivandrum- 695019. In addition to this, she delivered 17 lectures as resource person in Academic Institutions on invitation.
