Matthew Currell

Biography:
Dr. Currell is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at RMIT University, Melbourne Australia. Dr Currell completed his PhD in 2010 at Monash University, using environmental tracers to inform assessment of groundwater sustainability and controls on groundwater quality in a water-stressed region of northern China. Dr Currell teaches hydrogeology, geochemistry and groundwater modelling to environmental and civil engineering students, and supervises Masters and PhD projects. He has received over half a million dollars in research funding in the last five years, to support projects looking into groundwater sustainability and contamination issues. He has published 19 peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at numerous conferences around the world. Dr Currell is also a frequent visitor to China, where he collaborates with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and speaks mandarin Chinese.
