  • Biography:

    Dr. Green has over 30 years of professional nursing and university teaching. She is currently an associate professor and nurse scientist at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing in Calgary Alberta, Canada. She has a BSc degree in Nursing from the University of Victoria in British Columbia Canada, and completed her PhD in Nursing in 2007 at the University of Calgary and postdoctoral studies with the Calgary Stroke Program in the Faculty of Medicine in 2009.  She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses and guest lectures in research methods, mixed method research designs, and program evaluation, as well as the role of the clinician scientist. 
    Dr. Green's research interests are in the area of cerebrovascular diseases, with a special interest in stroke awareness, recovery and reintegration; vascular cognitive impairment, and best practices in nursing. She used both quantitative and qualitative research methods in her research. She contributes to ongoing updates of the evidence-based Stroke Best Practice Guidelines for the Canadian Stroke Network and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and collaborates on stroke nursing education initiatives nationally and internationally. Dr. Green was part of the team to develop an Accreditation Certification Program for Stroke Distinction in Canada and continues as a surveyor with Accreditation Canada.  
    Dr. Green is the co-editor of one book, 2 book chapters, and numerous peer-reviewed papers. She has presented her studies at over 20 conferences both nationally and internationally. She is a reviewer for over 10 international professional journals and is a member of the Canadian Nurses Association and the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
