Biography:

Milos JENICEK, MD, PhD, LMCC, FRCPC, CSPQ, is currently Professor (Part-Time) in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is also Professor Emeritus at the Université de Montréal, Montréal, Québec, Canada. In 2009, he was elected Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine, London, UK. 

The candidate belongs to the first group of physicians who developed since the seventies and eighties the current North-American paradigm of clinical epidemiology and evidence-based medicine and who trained the current wave of remarkable Colleagues who have so successfully continued to enhance and advance this field. The candidate’s approach to critical thinking and evidence-based decision making as foundations of medicine is increasingly adopted worldwide not only in English and French- speaking countries, but also in countries where other cultures and languages prevail. 

Among others, the candidate’s scholarly innovations include (in chronological order) first textbooks on current epidemiology and clinical epidemiology in the French language, the first book on meta-analysis and systematic reviews of medical evidence in the world, recognized as such by the James Lind Library in Oxford, three books on logic and critical thinking published by the American Medical Association, the first book on medical error and harm understanding, prevention and control from an epidemiological and mainstream standpoint, the first book on critical thinking and decision making as a part of clinical propaedeutics, not only in medicine, but also in all health sciences and the most recent book on how to write, read and understand medical articles and other ways of communication in health sciences, all by major medical publishers. His world first books in French and English on clinical case reporting in evidence-based medicine were also published in Italian, Japanese and Korean. 

In summary, the candidate’s contributions and experience are reflected in 42 guest speakerships on invitation, 14 short visiting professorships, 15 authored books, 11 chapters and forewords in other books, and 80 original articles in health sciences periodicals.
