Global Economy: Businesses increasing global in scope; more and more companies achieve competitive advantages by expanding their operations to global scale. Due to global economy and volatile markets, there is a need for customization to respond to customer demands and gain competitive advantages. Competition no long between companies, but supply chain and networks of firms.Human resource, Cost, quality, quick response are needed to gain competitive advantages.
Hui-Ming Wee is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) in Taiwan. He received his B.S. degree (honors) from Strathclyde University (UK), M. Eng. from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and Ph.D. from Cleveland State University, Ohio (USA). His research interests are in the field of production/inventory control, optimization, renewable energy and supply chain management. He has been visiting professor to Asian Institute of Technology, University of Washington, Curtin University of Science and Technology, San Jose State University, University of Technology Sydney and Colorado State University. He has received excellent research award from the Taiwan Ministry of Science and Technology. He has published more than 400 papers in refereed journals, international conferences, and book chapters. His papers were cited 2859 times (Scopus), 4283 times (Google), with h-index: 30. He has also co-edited six books, holds two patents and serves as editor/editorial board member for a number of international journals.
