Prof. Amir Hosein Ghaffarian Hoseini

Dr. AmirHosein GhaffarianHoseini (Ph.D, M.Sc Arch, B.Sc Arch) is an architect and international scholar in the field of building science, sustainable urbanism, and environmental/energy/thermal modeling. He is currently a senior lecturer at the Department of Geography (with focus on future cities development), University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia. His expertise generally lies in the application of green design strategies in built environments. He has significant research experience in the interdisciplinary fields of green buildings, zero energy buildings, intelligent buildings, urban sustainability and future cities and has won various international research scholarships. He serves as editorial board member and/or reviewer for various top-ranked international journals and conferences including Applied Energy (Elsevier), Energy and Buildings (Elsevier), International Journal of Sustainable Built Environment (Elsevier), Sustainable Cities and Society (Elsevier), Automation in Construction (Elsevier), Intelligent Buildings International (Taylor & Francis), British Journal of Environment and Climate Change (ScienceDomain), Journal of Creative Sustainable Architecture & Built Environment (SERSC), Journal of MacroTrends in Energy and Sustainability (MacroJournals), International Journal of Thermal Science (VINS), Journal of Intelligent Systems (De Gruyter), ISSC 2011, ICIMTR 2012, ICEEA 2014, ICESR 2014, NESD 2014 and ICSDEC 2015. He teaches courses related to architectural design, sustainability and future cities development. He also serves on design juries. Lead author or co-author of more than fifty scientific and technical papers, he is also the co-author of the book Formal Reflections in Architectural Conceptualization: Rationality versus Sensation (Images Publishing, Australia, 2014). In addition to his academic work, he has practiced as architect, designer and project manager for several years. His design works have been featured in many architectural magazines including Architect Concept and Design Concept.
