Dr. Javed Iqbal received a PhD degree in Geological Engineering and Geohazards from Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100029, China. Dr. Iqbal is currently working as Chairman, Department of Earth Sciences, Abbottabad University of Sciences and Technology (AUST), KPK, Pakistan. Dr. Iqbal has more than eight years teaching and research experience and published numerous research papers in the field of Geohazards in high impact factor journals. His work is mainly focused on hill-slope failure and fluvial geomorphology, landslide mechanism and risk assessment, geotechnical field instrumentation / monitoring and laboratory testing, unsaturated soil mechanics including microstructure analysis (SEM) and numerical modeling (finite element method and limit equilibrium method). He is founding member and head of earth sciences department at AUST. He is consistently receiving Research Productivity Award (RPA), COMSTECH-Pakistan, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016. Recently he has been nominated for “Science Counselor” by Ministry of Science & Technology Pakistan, for Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, China. He is a project coordinator and co-principal investigator from Pakistan counterpart in a project titled “investigation of main active faults and major engineering geological problems along China-Pakistan economic corridor”. He is also taking care of international liaison office of AUST and signed MoUs with Chinese institute on behalf of AUST at Beijing, China.
